Katya Zamolodchikova Transforms into Nosferatu for Film Premiere

Katya Zamolodchikova, the beloved RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, made a chilling appearance at the premiere of the new Nosferatu film. The horror movie, a remake of the 1922 silent classic, held its premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre on December 12th, 2024. Zamolodchikova, known for her mastery of makeup and prosthetics, fully embraced the occasion by transforming into the film’s iconic vampire, Count Orlok.

The Robert Eggers-directed film reimagines the silent horror classic, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, which itself was inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The 1922 original, along with the 1979 remake, cemented Count Orlok as a horror icon with his bald head, pointed ears, and sharp fangs.

Katya Zamolodchikova and Astor Yang arrive at the “Nosferatu” premiere dressed as Count Orlok and Ellen Hutter.

Katya arrived at the premiere in full character, sporting prosthetic ears and fangs, pale makeup that accentuated dark, sunken eyes, and long, claw-like nails. She was accompanied by doll artist and costumer Astor Yang, who complemented Katya’s look by dressing as Ellen Hutter, Orlok’s victim in the film.

Katya initially gained fame on Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and further solidified her popularity as a runner-up on All-Stars 2. Post-Drag Race, she collaborated with fellow Season 7 alum Trixie Mattel on the web series UNHhhh, The Trixie & Katya Show, and Netflix’s I Like to Watch.

In the new Nosferatu film, Count Orlok is played by Bill Skarsgård, and Lily-Rose Depp takes on the role of Ellen Hutter. The star-studded cast also includes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe.

The premiere’s theme extended beyond Katya’s dramatic entrance. Depp opted for an angelic silver gown, while the remaining cast members embraced the darkness of the film by wearing black or dark brown attire. Even the TCL Chinese Theatre, with its inherent gothic architecture, contributed to the overall atmosphere.

Inside the theater, Katya and Yang continued the homage to the original film by posting Instagram Stories with a black-and-white filter, further emphasizing the 1922 aesthetic.

Other Drag Race alumni also attended the premiere, including Gottmik from Season 13, June Jambalaya from Season 14, and Pit Crew member Bruno Alcantara.
