Bronwyn Newport, a newcomer to The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, recently shared a terrifying experience involving a dog attack that left her with 37 puncture wounds. The incident occurred in April at a dog park while Newport was with one of her six dogs.
Newport recounted the events to PEOPLE, explaining that she noticed a lone dog running around without exhibiting any aggressive behavior. When she reached out to pet the dog, it reacted strangely, jerking away from her. The dog then circled back and lunged, biting her behind the knee.

In the ensuing chaos, Newport admits to reacting incorrectly, screaming and pulling away, which likely exacerbated the situation. The dog continued its attack, biting her calf and thigh. As she attempted to defend herself, the dog clamped down on her bicep, inflicting the most severe damage.

A bystander eventually intervened, separating the dog from Newport. Emergency services were called, and she was transported to the hospital. Newport sustained 37 individual bites, requiring stitches in both her arm and leg. The bite to her bicep resulted in a hairline fracture and extensive bruising.
It was later discovered that the attacking dog was a foster dog left unattended while its caretaker was on a phone call. Newport emphasizes the importance of responsible dog ownership, particularly in public spaces like dog parks. She highlights the potential for more serious injuries, especially to vulnerable individuals.

Despite the traumatic experience, Newport expressed empathy for the dog, acknowledging that it likely had underlying issues contributing to its behavior. She and her husband, Todd Bradley, covered the dog’s medical expenses and ensured its placement in a suitable home.
Newport has since recovered from her physical injuries and is undergoing treatment to minimize scarring. While initially terrified of dogs after the attack, she has regained her composure. She confirms that she did not press charges and prioritizes the well-being of both herself and the dog involved. She is now focused on healing and moving forward.
