Princess Beatrice Joins Royal Family Christmas at Sandringham Amid Pregnancy

Princess Beatrice celebrated Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham, adjusting her holiday plans due to her pregnancy. She joined King Charles and other royals for the traditional Christmas Day walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church. A source confirmed Princess Beatrice’s attendance after altering her plans on medical advice related to her pregnancy. She was accompanied by her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and his 8-year-old son, Christopher Woolf.

Princess Beatrice, 34, canceled a trip to Italy to spend Christmas with her husband’s family, following medical recommendations. The couple is expecting their second child early in the new year. They are already parents to 3-year-old daughter Sienna.

Beatrice wore a belted tan coat accommodating her growing bump and was seen placing a hand on Christopher Woolf’s back during the walk. Since their 2020 wedding, Beatrice has been described as a wonderful and hands-on stepmother to Christopher, affectionately known as Wolfie.

Princess Beatrice was the only member of the York family present at the King’s Christmas festivities. Her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, remained absent from Sandringham due to Prince Andrew’s alleged connection to a suspected Chinese spy. Princess Eugenie, Beatrice’s sister, spent the holiday with her in-laws.

Prior to Christmas, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo attended King Charles’ pre-Christmas lunch for the extended royal family at Buckingham Palace on December 19th. Both Beatrice and Eugenie appeared in good spirits despite the controversy surrounding their father. The Duke and Duchess of York also skipped the pre-Christmas lunch.

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward suggests that Prince Andrew likely discussed his absence with his daughters, who are known for their protectiveness and loyalty towards him. Seward believes Sarah Ferguson, aware of social implications, would have advised him to stay away, a decision supported by Beatrice.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, divorced since 1996 but remaining close, reportedly spent Christmas quietly at their home, Royal Lodge in Windsor. Princess Eugenie celebrated the holiday with her husband Jack Brooksbank’s family, as planned. This was the first Christmas since their 2018 wedding that Eugenie and Jack, parents to August, 3, and Ernest, 1, did not join the traditional Sandringham church walk.

Following the church service, the royal family enjoyed a traditional Christmas meal and watched King Charles’ Christmas Broadcast. The Sandringham Christmas walk, canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, was revived by King Charles in 2022 after Queen Elizabeth’s death. This year continued the tradition with a strong royal presence.
