Max George, vocalist for the British boy band The Wanted, recently underwent a successful pacemaker implantation surgery and is on the road to recovery. The 36-year-old singer shared the positive news on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the medical team and the outpouring of support from fans.
George initially revealed his heart health issues earlier in December, explaining that tests had uncovered problems requiring further examination and potential surgery. He shared that he felt unwell and needed to determine the extent of the damage and the necessary surgical intervention. Facing the possibility of spending Christmas in a hospital bed, George remained optimistic, vowing to tackle the challenge head-on.
On December 21st, George posted a photo showcasing his surgical scar and introducing fans to his “little friend,” the newly implanted pacemaker. The surgery, which lasted approximately two and a half hours, addressed collapsed veins that complicated the placement of the pacemaker wires. He praised the surgeons, doctors, and nurses at the NHS for their exceptional care.
Significantly, the pacemaker was placed beneath a tattoo commemorating his late bandmate, Tom Parker’s, birthday (04.08.1998). George expressed confidence that the device was in good hands, under the watchful eye of the meaningful tattoo.
While facing further tests due to inflamed lymph nodes in his lungs, George remains positive and determined to make a full recovery. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he and his family received, stating that it provided a much-needed boost during a challenging time. Prior to the surgery, George shared a video message with fans, admitting to feeling unwell but hopeful for a positive outcome.
