Julia Fox debuted a daring new pixie haircut at the New York premiere of her film Presence on January 16th. The actress and model revealed to Page Six that she took inspiration from Jim Carrey’s iconic character, Ace Ventura, and even performed the cut herself.

Fox described her desired look as “sleazy guy” to Page Six on the red carpet, referencing the flamboyant detective’s ever-changing hairstyles in the 1994 comedy. Ace Ventura’s hair transitions from dramatic horns to a slicked-back swoop throughout the film. Fox’s drastic chop was a significant departure from her previous mid-length, silvery-purple hair.

The actress shared a video of the DIY haircut on social media, initially captioning it, “Immediately regretted it.” However, fans quickly flooded the comments with supportive messages, praising her bold choice and assuring her that she looked fantastic. Fox admitted to Page Six that the dramatic cut had been a long time coming. “It was a long time coming. I’ve been wanting to do it for a long time,” she explained. “And you know, sometimes in life, you just gotta take the plunge and do it. It’ll grow back, it’s just hair.”

This daring move isn’t surprising considering Fox’s history of unconventional fashion choices. In a previous interview with PEOPLE, she highlighted some of her most memorable outfits of 2024, including a revealing wedding-inspired ensemble at a Thom Browne event. The look featured a sheer white veil, a dress with a large cutout exposing her midriff and thighs, and a black thong.

Fox explained her reasoning behind the outfit, stating, “I was like, great, I’ll put the veil on and it’ll cover my boob…I just happened to have little gloves and the bag, and the bag said, ‘Till death do us part.'” She humorously added, “Looking at the photo, I do wish that I would’ve maybe made sure the thong wasn’t twisted, but it’s okay.” Other notable fashion moments include a sheer catsuit adorned with sequins and tinsel, paired with silver makeup and hair.
