Dave Coulier’s wife, Melissa Coulier, recently provided an update on the Full House star’s cancer treatment, revealing that the challenges have intensified since his diagnosis in October. Speaking with WXYZ, Melissa acknowledged that Coulier has been experiencing increasingly difficult days as his chemotherapy progresses. “He has some really tough days, and as the chemo has been accumulating it gets a little tougher and more difficult,” she stated.
Humor and Positivity Amidst the Challenges
Despite the hardships, Melissa highlighted Coulier’s unwavering positive attitude and his use of humor to cope with the tougher times. As a wellness instructor, she emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive outlook in battling cancer. “He has such a positive attitude, and you need that in order to really fight it,” she commented. She further shared that they incorporate small celebrations into their routine, such as morning dance parties with their dogs, to cherish the good days.

Melissa also mentioned the outpouring of support Coulier has received, particularly from family members who have faced similar battles with cancer. She explained that Coulier draws strength from the experiences of his mother, sister, and niece, who have all battled the disease. “I think it’s just innately in him. He has had a lot of loss in his life when it comes to having to deal with cancer….I think for him, he takes every stride and really pulls strength from seeing the women that were so close in his life to powering through it, and he just wants to honor them,” she shared.
Coulier’s Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment
Coulier, 65, publicly revealed his stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis in November. The diagnosis followed an upper respiratory infection that led to swollen lymph nodes and subsequent testing. He described the experience as a “fast roller-coaster ride of a journey.”

In addition to chemotherapy, Coulier is following a comprehensive nutrition plan developed by Melissa, focusing on whole foods and eliminating refined sugars and processed foods. Melissa detailed their approach in an Instagram post, outlining their commitment to supporting Coulier’s recovery through healthy eating, time in nature, infrared saunas, breathwork, and massages. She emphasized the importance of laughter in maintaining high spirits throughout the process. Coulier himself acknowledged Melissa’s efforts, stating, “She has put together a whole nutrition plan for me.” Their combined efforts reflect a holistic approach to battling cancer, emphasizing both physical and emotional well-being.
