Teddy Swims’ Pearl-Covered Grammys Look Honors His Baby on the Way

Teddy Swims, the “Lose Control” singer nominated for Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards, made a bold statement with his red carpet attire. The 32-year-old artist, known for his love of jewelry, chose pearls as the central theme for his Grammys look, a touching tribute to his soon-to-be-born child.

Swims, whose real name is Jaten Collin Dimsdale, explained his stylistic choice to PEOPLE magazine, “My [child is due in June] and so the birthstone is a pearl. So I’m really excited for the pearl look ’cause me and mama will be there with our pearls on and just I guess kind of hinting at our little baby.”

He arrived on the red carpet with his partner, Raiche Wright, who proudly displayed her baby bump in a cutout dress. Swims shared his excitement about seeing Wright embrace her pregnancy glow, stating, “So I’m really excited to walk down the carpet and see my baby just full-on tummy out proud.”

Swims’ pearl-themed ensemble included a champagne-colored suit completely covered in pearls, complemented by a matching pearl-encrusted hat. He confirmed to PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly that the look was a dedication to his upcoming arrival.

Beyond the pearls, Swims also showcased his love for diamonds, describing his accessorizing approach as “diamonds, diamonds, diamonds all over, man.” He layered various diamond pieces, hinting at other bold looks planned for the evening. His “go big or go home” fashion philosophy, he explained, stemmed from his upbringing in the South, where his parents encouraged self-expression and embraced flashy accessories.
