Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, was seen in London on February 4th, 2025, marking her first public appearance since her sister, Princess Beatrice, announced the birth of her daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. The 34-year-old princess opted for a casual look, wearing a long brown coat and carrying a black tote bag as she entered a black car after dining at La Maison Ani, a French-Mediterranean restaurant.
The royal family officially announced Athena’s birth on January 29th, a week after her arrival. Born several weeks premature, Athena’s original due date was in early spring. The announcement included a photo of the newborn wrapped in a pink blanket.

The palace released a statement on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57 p.m. The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces.” The statement confirmed that the King, Queen, and other royal family members were informed and delighted with the news.
The palace also shared that Princess Beatrice and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi expressed gratitude to the hospital staff for their excellent care. Both mother and daughter were reported to be healthy and doing well, enjoying time with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.
Princess Eugenie was among the first to congratulate her sister on social media, reposting the baby’s photo with the message, “Welcome baby girl!” Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, affectionately known as Edo, also shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, expressing his and Beatrice’s joy at welcoming their “tiny and absolutely perfect” daughter. He thanked the staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support.

Princess Eugenie, married to Jack Brooksbank, is also a mother of two boys: August, turning four on February 9th, and one-year-old Ernest. She described the bond between mothers with children of similar ages, emphasizing the support and understanding they share.
