Renowned Bollywood actor Govinda was hospitalized early this morning following an accidental shooting at his Mumbai residence. The 60-year-old actor sustained a gunshot wound to his leg when his licensed revolver accidentally discharged.
The incident occurred around 4:45 AM IST on October 1st, 2024, as Govinda was preparing to depart for Kolkata for a scheduled performance. According to his manager, Shashi Sinha, the firearm fell from a cupboard, causing it to misfire and strike the actor below the knee.
Govinda immediately contacted his wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was already in Kolkata, and alerted his manager. Local authorities swiftly arrived at his Juhu home and transported him to Criticare Hospital for treatment.
Recovering in Stable Condition
Medical professionals successfully extracted the bullet, and Govinda is currently reported to be in stable condition. His daughter, Tina Ahuja, is by his side at the hospital, providing support.
In a brief audio message released from the hospital, Govinda reassured his fans, saying, “I was hit by a bullet, but it has been extracted. I thank the doctors here and your prayers. The blessings of my fans, parents, and my guru saved me.”
