Typhoon Noru Leaves a Trail of Destruction

Typhoon Noru, known locally as bão số 4, has left a trail of destruction across several provinces in Vietnam, including Thanh Hóa, Nghệ An, Hà Tĩnh, Thừa Thiên Huế, and Quảng Nam.

As of September 26th, 2024, the storm has claimed the lives of three people due to flash floods and caused significant damage to infrastructure and agriculture:

  • Housing: 10 houses collapsed (Nghệ An), 373 damaged (Thanh Hóa), hundreds more impacted

Food Poisoning Outbreak at Kiên Giang School Raises Concerns

A suspected food poisoning outbreak at a secondary and high school in Kiên Hải, Kiên Giang province, has left 23 students hospitalized.

On the afternoon of September 23rd, 2024, several students began experiencing symptoms such as stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting. By the following morning, 12 students were hospitalized.

The school canteen, operated by Mr. Nguyễn Văn Chơn, has come under scrutiny. Health officials are investigating the canteen’s hygiene practices and have sent food samples for testing.
