Buckingham Palace announced this morning that the Queen has canceled virtual engagements after testing positive for COVID-19 on Sunday. Experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms, the Queen will not participate in any planned virtual engagements today but will continue with light duties.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is heading to Copenhagen for a solo trip with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, an organization she launched in 2021. During her visit, she will meet with Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary.
This solo trip highlights the increasing responsibilities that both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have undertaken in the last two years.

The Royal Family has faced a challenging two weeks. Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19 on February 10th, followed by Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, on February 14th. This news came amidst the announcement that Prince Andrew settled his sexual abuse lawsuit and an investigation into one of Prince Charles’ charities for a cash-for-honors scandal.
On the same day as the Queen’s positive COVID-19 test, she was seen carrying out duties in person without a mask. However, the Palace assures the public that although the 95-year-old monarch is still under the weather, she will continue her duties in her Platinum Jubilee year.
The Queen was also expected to speak with the Prime Minister this week. The Palace has stated they will evaluate engagements closer to the day, taking a day-by-day approach.
