Record producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, currently embroiled in a $30 million lawsuit against Combs, alleges the hip-hop icon and his son, Justin Combs, were directly involved in the shooting.
Jones claims the incident occurred within the studio’s bathroom, contradicting statements from both the studio and Combs’ attorney, Shawn Holley, who maintain the shooting was the result of a robbery unrelated to the studio and occurred half a block away. Jones’ lawsuit details a chilling narrative where Combs and his son exited the bathroom leaving a bleeding G on the floor. He further alleges Combs coerced him into lying to the police, corroborating the robbery narrative.
Adding fuel to the fire, Jones included a photo of Combs at the studio around midnight in his lawsuit, alleging a “massive coverup.” This directly challenges the studio’s claim that the shooting was unrelated and occurred off-site.
The LAPD has confirmed officers responded to a shooting in the vicinity of the studio but remain tight-lipped about the details. However, an anonymous source claims three individuals were arrested and charged in connection with a string of robberies, this incident being one of them. These arrests allegedly occurred a month after the shooting, on November 17, 2022.
Combs’ attorney refutes Jones’ claims, labeling them “complete lies” and stating they possess “overwhelming, indisputable proof” to refute the accusations. Holley also claims attempts to share this evidence with Jones’ attorney have been ignored.
The stark contrast between the two narratives raises serious questions. Jones, despite admitting to initially lying to police under alleged duress from Combs, claims to have witnesses who can corroborate his story. This begs the question: if the shooting did indeed occur outside the studio as Combs and the studio claim, why was Jones instructed to lie?
