Newly unsealed search warrants have provided chilling insights into the University of Idaho murders, revealing a list of items seized from suspect Bryan Kohberger’s car and parents’ home. Among the items recovered were a criminal psychology book, a 40 caliber handgun, and a shovel.
The Pennsylvania search warrants, unsealed Thursday morning, offer a detailed inventory of items seized from the home of Kohberger’s parents in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, on December 30th of last year. As Law & Crime Network initially reported, Pennsylvania State Troopers were contacted by the FBI and Moscow, Idaho Police on December 28th, requesting assistance in the University of Idaho murders investigation.
This request came over a month after the tragic events of November 13, 2022, when four college students were found stabbed to death in their off-campus residence. For weeks following the murders, authorities released limited details about the case, primarily disclosing that they were searching for a white Hyundai Elantra deemed a vehicle of interest. Investigators later revealed that Kohberger drove a white 2015 Elantra.
Court documents unsealed this week reveal an extensive list of items seized from Kohberger’s vehicle, including multiple plastic bags, gloves, hiking boots, a shovel, goggles, and a wrench. Additionally, investigators collected items from the vehicle itself, including the seats, cushions, headrests, a seat belt, and a visor.
Separate documents outline the items recovered from Kohberger’s family home, including a Glock 40 caliber handgun and magazines, a Smith & Wesson knife, a laptop, a cell phone, and a book with underlined passages. While the court documents don’t specify the book’s title or the underlined content, investigators also recovered a criminal psychology book and documents from both DeSales University and Washington State University.
Prior to his arrest, Kohberger earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice from DeSales University in Pennsylvania. At the time of the murders, he was a PhD candidate at Washington State University. Notably, the WSU campus in Pullman, Washington, is approximately 15 minutes away from the University of Idaho campus in Moscow, Idaho.
Kohberger was apprehended at his parents’ residence in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, upon completing a cross-country road trip with his father from Washington. Following his arrest and an appearance in Monroe County, Pennsylvania Court, he was extradited to Idaho. He is currently being held in the Latah County Jail without bail.
