On December 11th, a wave of frantic 9-1-1 calls flooded emergency services, reporting a horrific crash. “It’s on the street, it’s a bad accident, there’s a baby laying in the middle of the streets,” cried one caller, highlighting the severity of the situation and the presence of a vulnerable child amidst the wreckage.

Tragically, another child was found on the ground, having been ejected from the vehicle upon impact. “There’s a baby back there too,” a voice can be heard saying in the bodycam footage, underscoring the heartbreaking reality of the situation.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Khalia Manning, was the aunt of the young victims. Her sister, 23-year-old Renesa Clydette Glenn Washington, was the passenger in the vehicle. The children, ages 2 and 3, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of their injuries. A subsequent investigation revealed that neither child had been properly restrained in a car seat at the time of the accident.

Manning’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was recorded at a staggering .191, more than double the legal limit. Both Manning and Glenn Washington were transported to the hospital for treatment before being taken into custody. “At this point, you are being placed under arrest, okay?” an officer can be heard stating in the bodycam footage.
Facing the gravity of her actions, Manning now faces a litany of charges, totaling ten in all, including DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm or death.
