Rapper GloRilla's Arrest: A Closer Look at the DUI Traffic Stop

The world of hip-hop was recently shaken by the arrest of rising star GloRilla on DUI charges. Body camera footage released by the arresting officers provides a detailed account of the traffic stop and the events that led to the rapper’s arrest.

The incident began with a routine traffic stop for an illegal U-turn at a red light. Officer Cillo, badge number 20, approached GloRilla’s vehicle and immediately noticed the smell of alcohol.

“So the reason I pulled you over today is because you made a U-turn out of a red light,” Officer Cillo explained.

GloRilla, seemingly surprised by the stop, engaged in a brief conversation about her GPS directions.

“My GPS took me and took you do and it took you over there,” she stated.

The officer, maintaining a professional demeanor, requested GloRilla’s driver’s license and instructed her to move her vehicle to a safer location off the main roadway.

“So do me a favor so we can get out of this roadway um I’m going to need your driver’s license. I’m going to go back to my car I’ll flash my lights at you whenever I do that or whenever these whenever these cars pass us I want you to turn into this turn lane over here okay and just stay right there for me,” Officer Cillo directed.

GloRilla complied and pulled her vehicle into the designated turn lane. As the officer returned to his patrol car to check GloRilla’s license, he noticed the smell of marijuana emanating from her vehicle.

Upon further questioning, GloRilla admitted to having consumed alcohol earlier that evening. She claimed to have been at an appearance and was heading home. When asked how many drinks she had consumed, GloRilla repeatedly responded with evasive answers.

“Were you drinking tonight?” Officer Cillo inquired.

“I’m not dr- okay so I can smell like my breath okay right when you all down the window okay yeah,” GloRilla responded.

The officer then informed GloRilla that he would be conducting a field sobriety test. He asked if she had any medical conditions that would prevent her from participating in the evaluations.

“In a few minutes I’m going to have another officer come over here and we’re going um if you’re willing I’m just going to ask you a few questions if I okay all right how how many drinks did you have today,” Officer Cillo stated.

“I’m cool I cool yeah i a you drunk or nothing else um how many n did you have I’m okay I that’s not my question I’m okay I’m 10 you 10 ma’am I’m okay,” GloRilla replied evasively.

“Okay that doesn’t mean anything it don’t mean nothing I’m I mean i l my GPS was telling me to go to their wa house down there but I know this way because I live over here so I was going to the wa house up there okay but I’m asking you how many drinks you have I’m not I I I’m okay okay well what did you drink I’m okay I I’m all right okay,” she continued.

Before proceeding with the field sobriety test, Officer Cillo informed GloRilla that he would be searching her vehicle due to the smell of marijuana. This revelation led to a tense exchange, as GloRilla disclosed that she had a firearm in the vehicle.

“Not only can I smell alcohol coming from your breath but I can also smell marijuana coming from this car okay so in just a moment I’ll be searching this car is there anything that I’m going to find in this car I have a a gun or to my knif a gun okay where’s the gun at it’s okay you don’t have to reach for it where is it yeah it’s in the car where is it in the car yes ma’am where at in just for my safety okay yeah in my B is it like in a bag or um no it just in the B okay all right,” Officer Cillo stated.

GloRilla’s demeanor shifted as she repeatedly asked Officer Cillo if he knew who she was.

“Do you know who I am?” she questioned.

Officer Cillo, remaining calm and professional, replied, “No I don’t.”

“You never heard you never heard of me though I’m sorry you don’t know who I am okay well you’re not out I know last name woods from what I just saw but that’s all it’s all right it’s it’s all right um but yeah it’s okay I’ll wait on you enlighten me on who you are I’m seeing M no cuz you still going to pick on me it don’t matter who I am pick on you I’m not picking on you you’re driving and I can smell alcohol off your breath but I’m not drunk I can tell you this I I do but yeah I’m on your TV ma’am I said I’m on your TV on my TV yeah okay it’s okay though I watch TV shows are you on a TV show,” she continued.

Despite the rapper’s attempts to leverage her celebrity status, Officer Cillo proceeded with the field sobriety test. He explained and demonstrated each evaluation clearly, ensuring that GloRilla understood the instructions.

The body camera footage showed GloRilla completing the three standardized field sobriety tests: the horizontal gaze nystagmus test, the walk-and-turn test, and the one-leg stand test.

Following the tests, Officer Cillo offered GloRilla a roadside breathalyzer test.

“Would you sub submit to a roadside PBT test like a um where you blow into it Port test mhm what is what it do,” he asked.

GloRilla, unsure of the implications, declined the breathalyzer test.

“What if I don’t? What’s my right?” she inquired.

Officer Cillo explained that the breathalyzer test was voluntary.

“The right is to say no yeah you right to M yeah it’s voluntary yeah it’s voluntary okay are you refusing would like to do it or you like to refuse I would like to refuse you would like to refuse ma’am you’re um up oh I’m thanks um all right so do me a favor just sit right here for me okay,” he stated.

Based on the results of the field sobriety tests and GloRilla’s refusal to take the breathalyzer test, Officer Cillo informed her that she was under arrest for driving under the influence.

The body camera footage concludes with GloRilla being placed in handcuffs and escorted to the patrol car. The video provides a transparent look at the events of the traffic stop and highlights the importance of responsible driving and cooperating with law enforcement.

This incident serves as a reminder that driving under the influence is a serious offense, regardless of one’s celebrity status. The legal process will now determine the outcome of GloRilla’s case.
