Florida Woman Targeted in Shocking Carjacking Murder, Sheriff Says

A Florida woman was found dead in a burning car after being carjacked in broad daylight, and authorities believe the suspects knew exactly who they were targeting.

Katherine Alra Grau Gera De Aat Visas was driving her car in Seminole County, Florida, last week when she stopped at a red light. Security footage captured the moment an armed gunman exited a green Acura behind her and approached her white Dodge Durango.

Chilling Footage Shows Suspect’s Actions

The gunman, wearing a black hoodie and a ski mask, pointed what appeared to be a 10mm handgun at Katherine, demanding she unlock the door. He jumped into the passenger seat, and as the light turned green, Katherine made a U-turn. The Acura followed closely behind.

Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma believes the suspect ordered Katherine to turn around again and proceed in the direction he dictated. They eventually ended up on State Road 417 southbound, with Katherine seemingly following the suspect’s orders.

A Gruesome Discovery and a Possible Connection

Nearly two hours later, deputies responded to a fire in a new construction area where the suspects seemed familiar. The car was engulfed in flames, and sadly, a body, believed to be Katherine’s, was found inside.

Sheriff Lemma revealed a shocking twist: the green Acura used in the carjacking was connected to the murder of a Florida tow truck driver, 39-year-old Juan Luis Cintron Garcia. He was shot and killed approximately a month prior. A green vehicle matching the Acura’s description was present at the scene of Garcia’s murder, and 10mm rounds, the same caliber used in Katherine’s case, were found there.

Investigation Uncovers More Questions Than Answers

Adding another layer to the case, an Orange County deputy, Francisco Estrella, was arrested for allegedly leaking details of the investigation, including the lead detective’s home address, to Katherine’s husband. Estrella and the husband were reportedly childhood friends, but the motive behind the leak remains unknown.

Katherine’s husband claims she was visiting family in Seminole County, but authorities haven’t been able to verify this information. Sheriff Lemma stated that the husband has been cooperative but believes he hasn’t been entirely truthful.

Authorities Seek Answers in Complex Case

While the suspects are still at large, authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information. This case, marked by shocking violence and strange connections, has left the community and investigators searching for answers. Why was Katherine targeted? What is the connection between the two murders and the green Acura? These questions are at the forefront of the ongoing investigation.
