Candy Spelling Loses Malibu Home in Devastating California Wildfires

The iconic Malibu home of Candy Spelling, widow of renowned TV producer Aaron Spelling and mother to actress Tori Spelling, has been destroyed in the ongoing Palisades Fire. A close friend of Spelling, Nikki Haskell, confirmed the loss to PEOPLE on January 9th, 2025. Spelling, 79, was thankfully staying at her Beverly Hills residence during construction at the Malibu property and is safe.

The Malibu home held significant historical value for the Spelling family. Purchased in 1972, the couple, married from 1968 until Aaron’s passing in 2006, later expanded the property in the 1990s by acquiring the neighboring house. The beachfront estate, spanning 8,000 square feet, boasted seven bedrooms and countless memories. Haskell described the loss as an “apocalyptic crisis,” underscoring the devastating impact of the fires.

This Malibu residence is distinct from the legendary Spelling Manor, a sprawling 123-room French chateau-style mansion in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles. The family resided in the Manor during the 1990s, hosting extravagant parties and creating memories that became synonymous with Hollywood glamour. Candy Spelling sold the 56,500 sq. ft. property in 2011, seeking a smaller residence after customizing the Manor with unique features, including dedicated rooms for gift wrapping, flower cutting, and her extensive doll collection.

The Palisades Fire, igniting in Pacific Palisades on January 7th, has rapidly consumed over 17,000 acres with no containment as of January 9th. Concurrently, the Eaton Fire in Pasadena and Altadena has scorched over 20,000 acres. Four additional fires continue to rage across Southern California, forcing over 100,000 residents, including numerous celebrities, to evacuate.

She highlighted significant milestones, like her dog Phoenix’s first steps and dreams of creating a lifetime of memories with her daughter, London, all tragically lost in the flames. The devastating wildfires continue to impact countless lives and properties across Southern California.
