Cara Delevingne and Anya Taylor-Joy arrived at the 2025 Golden Globes looking like a modern-day Romy and Michele, unintentionally channeling the iconic duo from the 1997 hit comedy Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion.
The pair graced the red carpet at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, on January 5th, their coordinated outfits drawing immediate comparisons to Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow’s memorable ensembles in the film. Taylor-Joy, the star of Furiosa, donned a light pink dress reminiscent of Michele’s (Kudrow) attire in the final scene of Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. Delevingne, the accomplished model and actress, sported a shimmering blue number, mirroring Romy’s (Sorvino) sparkling choice in the comedic classic.

However, the fashion convergence was purely coincidental. In a red-carpet interview with Variety, Taylor-Joy clarified, “We did it by accident, but we’re now going for, ‘It’s on purpose.'” Delevingne playfully added, “It was a lucky mistake.” This wasn’t their first twinning moment. In June 2024, they were seen sporting matching white tops at the Glastonbury Festival in England.
The actresses have also shared social circles beyond coordinated fashion choices. In December 2023, they enjoyed a girls’ night out in New York City with Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and Zoë Kravitz.

As for a potential Romy and Michele sequel, fans might have reason to rejoice. Sorvino revealed in November 2024 that a sequel was very close to receiving the green light, with a director already attached to the project and multiple drafts of a script completed by the original screenwriter, Robin Schiff. Sorvino expressed confidence in the script, stating it “checks all the boxes for all the fans.” She also indicated that filming could potentially commence in the second quarter of the following year, with both she and Kudrow set to reprise their roles. Furthermore, Sorvino hinted at the return of “almost every single character from the original that was important.” While deals are still being finalized, the prospect of a Romy and Michele reunion seems promising.
