Nate Bargatze, the 45-year-old comedian, openly declares his love for fast food—both the food and the speed. A fan of classics like Dairy Queen and McDonald’s, Bargatze appreciates the convenience of delivery services like DoorDash, which brings his favorite treats right to his doorstep.
“Last night I had a Sonic Blast, which is ice cream from Sonic, because Dairy Queen closed on me,” Bargatze tells PEOPLE, highlighting his loyalty to delivery services. “I like to order it ahead sometimes if I’m driving home. I’ll send it like a carrier pigeon.”
Bargatze’s affinity for DoorDash was a prominent theme in his October Saturday Night Live monologue, which he hosted for the second time. Now, four months later, that comedic bit has landed him a starring role in DoorDash’s Super Bowl commercial, promoting their DashPass membership program. PEOPLE has an exclusive teaser for the ad.
“Telling the story about DoorDash on SNL, that was my whole goal,” Bargatze jokes. “I was basically going on SNL to audition for DoorDash. It really worked out.”

SNL, currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, holds a special place in Bargatze’s career. He credits the show and its creator, Lorne Michaels, for giving him significant exposure. He would “100%” return to host for a third time.
“SNL’s really done a lot of stuff for me. I owe a lot of this to SNL, and Lorne,” Bargatze explains. “Lorne is someone that does see that. If you look at his history of SNL, it’s all about finding the next group… Someone, 20 years into my career, for it to have that big of an impact…just shows you that they’re always looking.”
Beyond his professional life, Bargatze finds humor in his personal life, particularly with his 12-year-old daughter, Harper. He shares that she has a knack for making him laugh with her expressive personality.
“She knows how to really make me laugh. And she’s very good at facial expressions,” Bargatze admits. “She can take my wife for a ride… Even when she’s not supposed to… I just watch my wife be like, ‘Go to bed,’ and then it just turns into laughing. And I’m like, ‘She’s just working you!'”
Bargatze even jokes that Harper will eventually inherit his cherished DashPass membership. The Super Bowl LIX, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, will be held on Sunday, February 9th, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
