Bradley Cooper, acclaimed actor and now restaurateur, has partnered with Danny DiGiampietro, owner of Philadelphia’s renowned Angelo’s Pizzeria, to launch Danny & Coop’s, a Philly cheesesteak haven in New York City’s Alphabet City. The restaurant’s first brick-and-mortar location opened its doors for a soft launch in December 2024, offering a sneak peek of its culinary delights before its official grand opening in January 2025.
Located at 151 Avenue A, across from Tompkins Square Park, Danny & Coop’s treated eager customers to its signature Philly cheesesteak during its initial three-day soft opening. The restaurant’s Instagram page announced the limited-time event, generating significant buzz among local foodies and Cooper fans alike. Long lines formed even before opening hours, a testament to the anticipation surrounding the new venture.

During the soft launch, the restaurant operated with a family-run feel, with DiGiampietro’s daughter and niece managing orders. The menu featured a single offering: the classic Philly cheesesteak. Even Cooper’s girlfriend, supermodel Gigi Hadid, joined in on the excitement, promoting the soft opening on her Instagram Stories. This venture isn’t Cooper’s first foray into the Philly cheesesteak scene in New York. In 2023, he collaborated with DiGiampietro on a pop-up food truck in the West Village, offering a taste of their culinary vision.
The search for a permanent location, as DiGiampietro revealed in an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer, was a two-year endeavor, hampered by high rent prices in Manhattan. Despite the challenges, Danny & Coop’s has finally found its home in Alphabet City, promising to bring authentic Philly cheesesteak flavors to New York City. The restaurant’s official opening in January 2025 is highly anticipated.
