Experiencing God’s Miraculous Love: A Journey of Faith and Healing

Alt: Pastor Leon Fontaine sharing his insights on experiencing God’s love and the power of miracles.

As a young man, my introduction to the world’s pain and brokenness came through working in a hospital and training as a paramedic. Witnessing the rawness of human suffering, from accidents and abuse to illness and loss, stripped away a layer of insulation around my heart. It ignited a deep yearning within me to minister God’s love and healing power to those in need. This experience became a catalyst for my journey of faith and a pursuit to understand how to flow with the power of God.

The Power of God’s Love: A Personal Journey

My upbringing in a loving, pastoral family offered a stark contrast to the suffering I encountered. Seeing the effects of abuse, disease, and despair firsthand awakened a desire within me to connect with God on a deeper level. I yearned to be a conduit of His healing and comfort. This yearning, much like stripping the insulation from an electrical wire to allow the current to flow, made me more receptive to God’s power.

The True Nature of a Miracle Worker

Many seek spiritual gifts for personal gain or recognition. However, true miracle workers are driven by agape love, a selfless and unconditional love that reflects God’s love for humanity. As 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 emphasizes, the Apostle Paul’s ministry wasn’t about eloquent speeches but demonstrating the Holy Spirit’s power, so faith would be rooted in God’s living Word. Just as Jesus, anointed with the Holy Spirit, went about doing good and healing (Acts 10:38), we too are called to follow in His footsteps. The ability to perform miracles isn’t limited to a select few; it’s available to every believer who cultivates a relationship with Jesus and grows in the Word.

Miracles: A Legacy of Faith

Witnessing my father’s miraculous healing from rheumatic fever as a young man solidified my belief in God’s power. His near-death experience transformed into a lifelong passion for ministering healing to others. I observed countless miracles through his ministry, confirming the truth that God’s healing power is still active today. This legacy inspired my own pursuit of understanding God’s Word and the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:7).

Overcoming Barriers to Belief

Many mistakenly believe the age of miracles is over. However, this contradicts the experiences of countless believers, especially in parts of the world where access to modern medicine is limited. Miracles are a testament to God’s unwavering love and power. The key is not to strive for doctrinal correctness but to cultivate a heart posture of demonstrating God’s power. This requires a shift in perspective, moving away from theological debates about why miracles don’t happen to embracing the reality that they do.

The Simplicity of Faith and Miracles

Sharing God’s love and witnessing miracles doesn’t require elaborate displays or prophetic pronouncements. It’s about genuine connection, compassion, and a willingness to pray for others. A simple conversation in a coffee shop led to a powerful miracle for a man whose wife was dying of cancer. My offer to pray, coupled with the prayers of our church, sparked a turnaround in her health. This experience highlighted the effortless nature of God’s power when our hearts are aligned with His love.

Receiving God’s Promises

God isn’t withholding miracles; they are already ours through Christ. We’ve been given everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). The challenge lies not in believing harder but in receiving the promises God has already made. When we are born again, we receive the Holy Spirit, who empowers us with faith, grace, and the mind of Christ. Our focus should be on the Word of God, which reveals the truth of our inheritance.

Speaking with Authority

Mark 11 instructs us to speak directly to our problems, commanding them to obey in Jesus’ name. This is not about putting God on the spot but aligning ourselves with His authority and speaking His truth over our circumstances. As we speak with faith, we create an environment for miracles to manifest.

Embracing the New Covenant

The way miracles operate in the New Covenant is different from the Old Testament and even Jesus’ earthly ministry. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, we have access to new life and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Misconceptions about why miracles don’t happen often stem from outdated theological frameworks. The truth is, God’s power is readily available to those who choose to receive it.

If you haven’t yet experienced the transformative love of Jesus, I invite you to accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Simply pray:

Jesus, come into my heart. I accept the free gift of salvation. From today on, I want to get to know You as my Lord and Savior. Amen.

Welcome to the family of God! This decision, made in your spirit, is the beginning of a beautiful relationship with Jesus. Continue to explore God’s Word and find a community of believers to support your growth. As you immerse yourself in His love and truth, you’ll discover the miraculous power that resides within you.
