Reality TV star Heidi Montag is slowly piecing her life back together after losing her home and possessions in the recent Los Angeles wildfires. The devastating fires swept through the area earlier this month, leaving Montag and her husband, Spencer Pratt, displaced. She recently shared her experience shopping for new clothes after the tragedy.
In a TikTok video posted on January 12th, the 38-year-old documented her trip to Marshalls. “We’re going to go shopping and get some clothes because I’ve been wearing the same T-shirt and jeans for days,” Montag explained. “I have, like, two outfits.”
She excitedly showed viewers a variety of sweaters and cardigans, expressing her joy at finding new items. However, the experience was tinged with sadness. “It sounds silly, but it’s really making me miss my stuff,” she admitted.
Leaving the store with a bag of new clothes, Montag confessed to feeling anxious about leaving her 6-year-old son, Gunner, for the first time since the fires. “This is the first time I’ve left him since the fires, but he seems to be doing good,” she shared. “I need to take some deep breaths. It’s a lot going out into the world. It really hits you in a different way.”
In a subsequent TikTok video, Montag continued her shopping trip at an Alo store, focusing on athleisure wear like sports bras, hats, and sweatpants. The couple, who also share a 2-year-old son, Ryker, are currently staying at Pratt’s parents’ rental home.
Amidst the hardship, Montag experienced an unexpected surge in her music career. Her 2010 album, Superficial, and its titular single reached No. 1 on iTunes, thanks to Pratt’s promotional efforts and fan support. He encouraged fans to stream the album as a way to help the family during this difficult time. The album even surpassed works by major artists like Bad Bunny and Kendrick Lamar.
Pratt, 41, reflected on the album’s journey in a TikTok video, recalling the significant financial investment they made in the project during their time on The Hills. He admitted to initial regrets about the album’s lack of success but expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recent outpouring of support.
Montag also expressed her gratitude to fans in now-expired Instagram Stories. “Thank you so much to everyone. No. 1 on iTunes chart, oh my gosh,” she said. “Thank you for the overwhelming love and support of my music and really rallying behind us in this devastating time and making it such a blessing.” The couple’s story highlights the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity and the power of community support.
