The son of a prominent Hollywood agent is facing murder charges in a case that has shocked Los Angeles. 35-year-old Sam Haskell, also known as Sam Hasell IV or Sam Haskell Jr., is accused of killing his wife, May, and her parents, who lived with the couple and their children in Tarzana, California.
The case unfolded when day laborers contacted the LAPD, claiming Haskell had hired them to remove suspicious bags from his property. They described the bags as “soggy” and “weird,” revealing that they contained what appeared to be human remains. Despite this alarming discovery, police did not initially enter the home, citing insufficient evidence.
The following day, a homeless person made a grisly discovery in a nearby dumpster: a headless torso stuffed inside a bag. Surveillance footage from the area captured a white SUV, matching the description of Haskell’s vehicle, pulling up to the dumpster. The driver, whose appearance aligns with Haskell’s, is seen struggling to lift a large black bag from the trunk and dispose of it in the dumpster.
Adding to the mounting evidence, a neighbor reported hearing screams of “Help! Help!” coming from the Haskell residence the night before the torso was discovered. The neighbor’s daughter also recalled hearing a car door slam, screeching tires, and a vehicle speeding away.
Upon searching the Haskell home, police found blood and other evidence suggesting a violent crime had taken place. The children were removed from the home and placed in protective custody.
Haskell, who has a background in producing low-budget horror films, is being held without bail and faces life in prison or the death penalty if convicted. He is scheduled for arraignment on December 8th.
