Kate Middleton’s brother, James Middleton, recently shared a heartfelt message on Instagram praising his sister’s “Together at Christmas” carol service and its powerful message of unity and support. The Princess of Wales hosted her fourth annual carol service at Westminster Abbey on December 6th, 2024. Guests received an Order of Service featuring a touching image of friends walking through the snow towards Westminster Abbey.
The artwork, created by renowned author and artist Charlie Mackesy, deeply resonated with James. He posted the image on his Instagram account, captioning it with a moving tribute to his sister’s initiative. “At Christmas, and throughout the year, we must all shine for each other. Because in times of joy and sadness, we are all each other’s light,” he wrote, emphasizing the importance of mutual support and togetherness. He concluded his post by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.

The Order of Service also included a poignant quote: “How did I help? You were by my side. Which was everything.” A spokesperson for Princess Kate explained that these words perfectly encapsulate the core theme of the carol service – the profound impact of simply being present for someone in need.
This year’s service held particular significance following Princess Kate’s announcement in March about her cancer diagnosis and subsequent completion of chemotherapy in September. She described the period as “incredibly tough.”
The Princess of Wales was joined at the event by her husband, Prince William, and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, sister Pippa Middleton, and James’s wife, Alizée Thevenet, were also in attendance.

In a heartfelt letter to attendees, Princess Kate expressed her gratitude for their contributions and highlighted the true spirit of Christmas. She emphasized the importance of slowing down, reflecting, and opening our hearts to love, kindness, and forgiveness during the holiday season. The service will be broadcast in the UK on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve.
