Bodycam Footage Shows Tense Standoff

The released footage reveals officers arriving at the scene and repeatedly urging Basil to disarm herself. Despite multiple warnings, Basil refused to comply and instead advanced towards the officers while still in possession of the weapon.

Officer Opens Fire as Situation Escalates

Fearing for their safety and that of nearby civilians, Officer Donald Brian Wyatt discharged his weapon, striking Basil.

Aftermath and Investigation

Immediately following the shooting, officers administered first aid to Basil before transporting her to the University of Louisville Hospital. She survived the incident.
