Read More & DownloadSelected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, wide receiver Keon Coleman joins a Buffalo Bills offense undergoing a significant transformation after the departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. As he prepares for his rookie season, Coleman is already making a statement, emphasizing his unique identity and dismissing comparisons to his predecessors.
Recently, Coleman trained with two-time Super Bowl champion and CBS Sports NFL analyst Bryant McFadden. Following the workout, the pair headed to Topgolf, one of Coleman’s favorite spots. During their conversation, McFadden addressed the inevitable question: does Coleman feel the pressure of filling the shoes of Diggs and Davis?
Coleman Confidently Rejects Comparisons
Coleman’s response was swift and decisive. He doesn’t feel burdened by expectations or comparisons. “I’m not Gabe, I’m not Stef, I’m just Keon,” he stated emphatically, highlighting his intention to forge his own path in Buffalo. This self-assuredness resonates with his on-field performance and the glimpses fans have seen of his personality off the field.

Coleman’s College Career and Fit in Buffalo
Coleman’s confidence is backed by a strong college career. Over three years, he amassed 115 receptions for 1,506 yards and 19 touchdowns, with an impressive 11 touchdowns in his final season at Florida State. Now, he’ll be catching passes from one of the league’s premier quarterbacks, Josh Allen.
The Bills’ receiving corps, featuring Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel, lacked size before Coleman’s arrival. His 6-foot-3, 213-pound frame provides a significant physical presence. While Shakir is a smaller receiver, he is also expected to have a breakout season, making the Bills’ receiving group a potential force in the league.
The Bills’ AFC Aspirations
Coleman’s addition could be crucial for the Bills to remain competitive in the AFC, particularly against the formidable Kansas City Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs have consistently thwarted the Bills’ playoff aspirations, holding a 3-0 record against them in the postseason since Mahomes became the starter.
Buffalo is strategically rebuilding its roster around Allen, aiming to contend for a Super Bowl championship. Coleman’s arrival signifies a significant step in this process, injecting fresh talent and a confident attitude into the wide receiver position. The Bills are betting on Coleman’s potential to become a key contributor in their pursuit of AFC dominance.
