King Charles was seen in public for the first time since announcing his cancer diagnosis. The King appeared in good spirits, smiling and waving to onlookers as he walked to church service in Sandringham with his wife, Queen Camilla, by his side.
This public appearance followed the King’s first statement since the announcement of his cancer treatment. In his statement, the King expressed gratitude for the outpouring of well wishes, saying, “As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.” He added, “It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organizations which support cancer patients and their families.”

While Buckingham Palace has not released specific details about Charles’s illness, it is known that the diagnosis came after he was hospitalized and treated for a benign enlarged prostate. The Palace confirmed that Charles does not have prostate cancer.
Queen Camilla, in her first public comments since the announcement, shared that the King “is doing extremely well under the circumstances and he’s very touched by all the letters of messages” from the public.
The King’s recent health concerns come at a time when the Royal Family is navigating several other health matters. Princess Kate, who was hospitalized at the same time as the King for abdominal surgery, is still recovering out of the public eye. Kensington Palace has reported she is “progressing well.”

With most British schools currently on break, Prince William and his family typically spend time at the Sandringham estate, a favorite retreat for the family. The estate provides a more private environment for the Royals, offering more space and activities for the children. However, there have not been any sightings of the family at Sandringham yet.
As the King steps back from some royal duties during his treatment, other members of the Royal Family are taking on additional responsibilities. Princess Anne, known for her active role in royal engagements, was recently seen at a rugby match. It is expected that Prince William, as heir to the throne, will also be taking on a more prominent role in supporting the monarchy.
Although the King will be undergoing cancer treatment, he has continued to fulfill some of his essential duties, including his weekly audience with the Prime Minister and conducting private business. However, public appearances and official engagements are expected to be limited during this time.
