Kody Brown, patriarch of the Brown family featured on TLC’s “Sister Wives,” recently revealed he was caught off guard by ex-wife Janelle Brown’s move. In an exclusive sneak peek of an upcoming episode, Kody confessed that he only learned about Janelle’s relocation because one of his children accidentally let it slip. “I don’t know how to explain this. It was never intended for me to know that Janelle was moving,” Kody admitted, adding that his child pleaded with him not to reveal the source of the information.

Janelle, however, expressed no regret about not informing Kody directly. “I didn’t tell Kody,” she stated. “I didn’t see any reason to tell him. Our lives are not overlapping in any way…it wasn’t any of his business what I was doing.” This incident underscores the strained relationship between the former couple following their separation in December 2022.
Earlier in the season, viewers saw Janelle exploring properties in Montana with her and Kody’s daughter Maddie, expressing a desire to be closer to former sister wife Christine Brown Woolley. While the Montana move didn’t materialize, Janelle announced in a December 2024 Instagram post that she was establishing permanent roots with Maddie and her son-in-law Caleb Brush.

Kody also reflected on his relationships with his other ex-wives, Meri and Christine. He hopes to maintain a friendship with Meri and harbors no resentment towards Christine, who remarried in October 2023. However, Kody expressed a sense of regret regarding his relationship with Janelle, believing they could have potentially reconciled. “Janelle was a different story. I always thought … I just felt like Janelle and I could have worked it out,” he lamented.
