Grammy Award-winning rapper and actor Ludacris received a hero’s welcome at the Atlanta Braves game on Wednesday night, September 4th. The Atlanta native was honored with a special bobblehead night and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The first 15,000 fans at Truist Park received a limited-edition Ludacris bobblehead. The collectible figurine featured the rapper in a throwback Hank Aaron No. 44 jersey, jeans, and a microphone in hand.
A Grand Entrance and a Nod to a Classic Music Video
Ludacris made a grand entrance onto the field, riding in style on a cart driven by the Braves’ mascot, Blooper. The crowd erupted in cheers when they realized Ludacris was dressed as his memorable character from his 2004 “Get Back” music video.
Sporting oversized prosthetic arms, giant shoes, and an enormous watch, Ludacris recreated the iconic look from the Spike Jonze-directed video. In the video, a muscular Ludacris confronts a handsy fan in a bathroom, knocking him out with a single blow from his massive hand.
A Pitch Perfect Moment
With a baseball attached to his giant hand, Ludacris confidently threw a strike down the middle, much to the delight of the crowd. Videos and photos shared on social media show the rapper enjoying himself as he stomped around the field in his “Get Back” attire.
The Atlanta Braves also celebrated Ludacris’s long-standing relationship with the team on social media. They shared photos of his past performances at pre-game concerts, Ludacris posing with the team’s 2021 World Series ring and trophy, and other memorable moments.
A Menu Fit for a Hometown Hero
Adding to the festivities, the stadium’s food vendors served a special menu inspired by Ludacris’s own restaurant, Chicken and Beer.
