Medical Emergency Leads to Car Crash in Duluth

A woman experiencing a medical emergency crashed into a police car in Duluth, causing a multi-car collision that sent one person to the hospital.

The incident occurred on a busy afternoon near the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road. According to eyewitnesses, the woman, later identified as Peggy, suffered a seizure while driving and lost control of her vehicle.

Officer Blackwell, who was at the scene responding to a separate incident, witnessed the events unfold. “She was holding her face, then slumped over the wheel,” Blackwell recounted. “Her foot hit the gas, and her car sped forward.”

Fearing a major accident, Officer Blackwell acted quickly. Using his patrol car, he maneuvered into position and intentionally made contact with Peggy’s vehicle, bringing it to a stop.

The impact, however, also involved another vehicle driven by an off-duty officer who was passing by.

Emergency medical services arrived promptly and transported Peggy to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of medical emergencies and the importance of seeking immediate attention if experiencing any unusual symptoms while driving.

Authorities are investigating the incident further, and no charges have been filed at this time.
