A military wife, Melody Feliciano Johnson, has pleaded guilty to poisoning her husband’s coffee with bleach in a sinister plot to collect on his life insurance policy. The shocking case unfolded after her husband, Robbie Johnson, noticed a strange taste in his coffee and began to suspect foul play.
Robbie, a United States Airman, started experiencing an unpleasant taste in his coffee in March 2023 while stationed in Germany with Melody and their child. He initially dismissed it, attributing the off-putting flavor to a peculiarity of the coffee maker. However, as weeks went by and the taste persisted, his suspicions grew.
Concerned about the increasingly foul taste, Robbie resorted to using pool chemical testing strips to analyze his coffee. The results were alarming – the strips consistently indicated a high level of chlorine in the water. Convinced that something was amiss, he set up a hidden camera in their home in May 2023 to uncover the truth.

To his horror, the footage revealed Melody tampering with his coffee. The video showed her waiting for him to prepare the coffee maker the night before, then sneaking in and adding a suspicious substance to the water reservoir. The substance was later identified as bleach.
Despite the chilling discovery, Robbie was still stationed in Germany and felt it was safer to report the crime once they returned to the United States. In a bid to protect himself, he pretended to continue drinking the tainted coffee while gathering evidence.
Upon their return to the US in June 2023, Robbie, now stationed at an Air Force base in Tucson, Arizona, set up additional cameras around the house, including some disguised as fire alarms, to document Melody’s actions. The cameras captured her numerous times pouring bleach into the coffee maker, often looking over her shoulder as if to ensure she wasn’t being watched.

Robbie’s hidden camera footage, along with the chemical test results, served as damning evidence against Melody. He presented his findings to authorities, leading to her arrest on July 18th.
Melody was initially indicted by a grand jury for first-degree attempted murder. However, in a plea deal, she pleaded guilty to lesser charges of adding poison or a harmful substance to food or drink. Prosecutors are recommending a two-year prison sentence, but she faces a maximum of four years behind bars and three years of probation.
This chilling case serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can lurk within seemingly ordinary domestic settings. Robbie’s vigilance and quick thinking in documenting the poisoning attempts were crucial in bringing his wife to justice. The sentencing for Melody Johnson is scheduled for May 10th, bringing an end to this unsettling chapter.
