Monrovia Father of Six Murdered in Front of Home

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced murder charges against Christopher Wiggan for the fatal shooting of Nicolas Gandara, a 38-year-old father of six, outside his Monrovia home. The incident occurred on June 2, 2024, at approximately 9:22 p.m.

Gascón expressed his condolences to the victim’s family, stating, “I’m deeply saddened by the tragic loss of an innocent husband and father of six, who was senselessly shot and killed outside his own home. I extend my deepest condolences to the victim’s family and assure you that we are here to support you in any way that we can.” He emphasized the commitment of his office to seek justice and hold the perpetrator accountable.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Gandara intervened in a dispute between Wiggan and another resident on Duarte Road. Wiggan then allegedly shot Gandara in the neck. Gandara tragically died at the scene.

Wiggan (dob 9/6/1981) fled the scene after the shooting but was apprehended the next day upon returning to the location. He has been charged with one count of murder (case 24PDCF00313) and faces an additional firearm enhancement for personally using a handgun in the commission of the crime.

During his arraignment, Wiggan pleaded not guilty. A preliminary hearing setting conference is scheduled for June 20 in Department H of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch. The court has ordered Wiggan to be held without bail. If convicted, he faces a potential life sentence.
