Paul “PK” Kemsley, husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley, is publicly challenging his estranged wife’s recent statements regarding his sobriety and its role in their separation. Dorit, during the season 14 premiere of RHOBH, described PK as a “full-blown alcoholic” and implied his addiction contributed to their split. PK, however, contends that this portrayal is inaccurate and oversimplifies a complex situation.
In a recent interview on Bravo’s Hot Mic Podcast, PK, who is nearing a year of sobriety, expressed his disappointment and shock at Dorit’s comments. He emphasized that his public journey to sobriety was intended to inspire others struggling with addiction, highlighting the importance of support and recovery programs. He characterized alcoholism as a “cunning, sophisticated illness” and described his personal path to recovery as a challenging and emotional process.
PK argued that Dorit’s lack of experience with recovery programs may hinder her understanding of alcoholism. He stated that “there is no fully blown alcoholic,” asserting that one is either an alcoholic or not. He suggested that her description of his alcoholism stems from a lack of personal involvement in recovery efforts.

While acknowledging that alcoholism played a part in their marital issues, PK maintained that it was a “symptom” rather than the sole cause of their separation. He stressed the need to address underlying issues within a relationship, emphasizing the complexity of their situation beyond a simple attribution to alcoholism. He also clarified that Dorit’s claims of supporting him through past financial struggles were not entirely accurate, stating that his bankruptcy and debts predated their relationship and he had since recovered.
Dorit, in her conversation with Kathy Hilton on RHOBH, expressed uncertainty about PK’s willingness to contribute to a “healthy, happy, peaceful marriage.” She also revealed that they had chosen not to disclose their separation to their two children, Jagger and Phoenix, aged 8.
