Prince Harry Embraces Silicon Valley as BetterUp’s Chief Impact Officer

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and fifth in line to the British throne, has added a new title to his repertoire: Silicon Valley executive. The prince has joined BetterUp, a coaching and mental health company, as their Chief Impact Officer.

BetterUp’s founder and CEO, Alexei Robichaud, revealed in an interview that the partnership blossomed from a friendship that began last year. Robichaud emphasized that their connection with Prince Harry extends beyond a traditional employer-employee relationship. “We don’t typically think of bosses,” he shared. “I would say we’re partners, and we’re building something meaningful.”

Robichaud confirmed that Prince Harry is already actively involved in the company, having participated in a company-wide meeting just an hour before the interview. This level of engagement offers BetterUp employees a unique opportunity to collaborate with the prince on various projects. “He was literally on a company all-hands an hour ago,” Robichaud remarked. “Employees will have the opportunity to interact, partner, work with him on projects. So he’s part of the team, and we’re really excited.”

When questioned about the prince’s hands-on approach, Robichaud affirmed, “He’s one of the team.” He clarified that while Prince Harry won’t be directly managing staff, he will be a regular presence at the office.

In a statement shared on BetterUp’s blog, Prince Harry outlined his vision for the role: “My goal is to lift up critical dialogues around mental health, and my hope is to help people develop their inner strength, resilience, and confidence.” The prince also disclosed that he has personally benefited from BetterUp’s services, praising his coach for providing “sound advice and a fresh perspective.”
