Bronwyn Newport, star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, revealed on Instagram that her mother underwent emergency brain surgery after doctors discovered a tumor. Newport spent Christmas in the ICU caring for her mother, who lives in California.
Newport shared that her mother had a similar tumor removed nearly 30 years ago and has been healthy since. However, over the past month, she has been struggling with exhaustion and frailty while caring for Newport’s father, who has Alzheimer’s and recently broke his pelvis. Newport noticed her mother experiencing dizziness, confusion, and exhaustion—symptoms similar to those she experienced during her first diagnosis.

After rushing to the hospital from the airport, Newport received the news of the new tumor alongside her mother. She spent Christmas Eve in the ER with her mother and then went home to spend time with her father and his caregiver. Despite the difficult circumstances, Newport expressed gratitude for being able to order pizza delivery on Christmas Eve.
Newport acknowledged the challenges of balancing her family responsibilities with her commitments to RHOSLC. She and her husband, Todd Bradley, and 18-year-old daughter, Gwen, had to adjust their holiday plans. However, Newport and her mother found solace in watching basketball together, discovering a shared passion for the sport.

Newport described her mother as a compassionate and selfless person who has always put others first. She recalled growing up watching her mother help countless people through homemade meals, handwritten notes, and acts of service. Newport felt it was natural to step into a caretaker role for her mother, drawing on the lessons she learned from her upbringing. She brought her mother comfort items to the hospital, including a photo of her father, lotion, socks, hygiene products, and even some “contraband” sodas.

Newport also shared advice for others caring for loved ones in the hospital, emphasizing the importance of comfortable socks, lotion, and foot rubs. She credits her mother for teaching her the value of these small comforts.

While Newport hasn’t provided a recent update on her mother’s condition, she shared photos of past family Christmases and criticized those who gossiped about her family’s situation. She expressed gratitude for the support she has received and vowed not to forget the unkindness of others.
