In a shocking incident captured on police body camera footage, 24-year-old Joseph Chi was arrested for a string of offenses, including shoplifting, indecent exposure, and criminal nuisance, at a grocery store in Maricopa, Arizona.
The incident unfolded when police responded to a call about a disruptive individual inside the store. Witnesses reported seeing Chi stashing a beer in his pants, casually eating a rotisserie chicken, and unbelievably, urinating in one of the aisles.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers confronted Chi, who initially denied any wrongdoing. However, his attempts to conceal the stolen items and the strong smell of chicken emanating from him quickly betrayed his story.

Bodycam footage captured the officers’ attempts to reason with Chi, who appeared disoriented and agitated. Chi’s bizarre behavior continued as he deflected blame, claiming an “Apache” was responsible for the stolen chicken.
Despite his attempts to mislead the officers, evidence of his crimes was overwhelming. The officers discovered a puddle of urine in the aisle where Chi had been spotted, and a closer inspection of the rotisserie chicken revealed bite marks.

Confronted with the evidence, Chi eventually confessed to shoplifting the beer, eating the chicken, and urinating in the store. He was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including indecent exposure, a felony due to his prior convictions for similar acts.
The incident has sparked outrage and disbelief among the local community, with many questioning how someone could engage in such brazen and disrespectful behavior. The grocery store owner has banned Chi from the premises, promising swift legal action if he attempts to return.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of human behavior and the importance of law enforcement in maintaining order and safety in our communities. It also highlights the potential consequences of engaging in criminal activity, no matter how seemingly insignificant.
