The Houston Texans enter the 2024 NFL season with significantly heightened expectations, and wide receiver Tank Dell embodies that confidence. Unlike the previous year, where they defied predictions to win the AFC South, the Texans are now considered legitimate contenders.
“We ready,” Dell declared, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2. “We’re all excited. We know we have a target on our back. We got a lot of things we want to accomplish: Super Bowl, playoffs, things like that. So we’re ready to go work.”
Dell’s promising rookie season in 2023 was unfortunately cut short by a broken leg after 11 games. During his time on the field, he showcased his potential with 47 receptions, 709 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns as the team’s second receiving option behind Nico Collins.
The arrival of Stefon Diggs, acquired in a major trade with the Buffalo Bills, will likely shift Dell into the third receiver role. However, this change hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm.
Dell Poised for a Breakout Sophomore Season
Despite a strong rookie year, Dell anticipates an even more impactful 2024 season. His confidence in his progress is evident. “I’m way better,” Dell stated. “I feel like I’m way better than I was last year at this time. The little bit of experience I got before I got injured, I already know the playbook. So I don’t have to put too much stress on that. I’m just working every day. I know I’m ready.”
The Texans are widely perceived as a significant threat to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC, largely due to their potent offense spearheaded by second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud. The team’s strength extends beyond offense, with a formidable defense bolstered by the free agency acquisition of edge rusher Danielle Hunter.
Last season, the Texans surprised many by winning 10 games and dominating the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. This year, opponents will be prepared for them. The question remains: Can the Texans handle the increased pressure?
Judging by Tank Dell’s confidence, they’re ready for the challenge.
