Tennessee Titans’ Offense Ranked Among NFL’s Worst Entering 2024 Season

The Tennessee Titans underwent significant changes this offseason, aiming to revitalize their offense. These changes included replacing head coach Mike Vrabel with Brian Callahan, the former offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals. The Titans were also active in free agency, bolstering quarterback Will Levis’ supporting cast.

The team acquired veteran wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd, forming a potentially formidable trio alongside DeAndre Hopkins. If Treylon Burks, a former first-round pick, can contribute meaningfully, the Titans’ passing attack could become a significant strength.

In the backfield, the Titans moved on from Derrick Henry, who signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Replacing him is Tony Pollard, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, who will share the workload with Tyjae Spears.

Despite these improvements, doubts linger about the Titans’ offensive potential. Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton ranked the Titans as having the fourth-worst offense in the NFL heading into the 2024 training camp, citing uncertainties at several key positions.

Moton questioned Callahan’s play-calling experience compared to Sean Payton in Denver and highlighted the unknowns at crucial positions as reasons for the low ranking. He stated, “If Levis thrives under a first-year play-caller, the Titans offense will exceed expectations, but the unknowns at key positions are why the unit is in the No. 4 spot.”

Only the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, and New England Patriots were ranked lower than the Titans.

The Titans have the potential to outperform these pessimistic projections. Much will depend on Will Levis’ development in his second year and his ability to elevate the team’s performance. The success of the revamped receiving corps and the effectiveness of the new running back tandem will also be critical factors in determining the Titans’ offensive success in 2024.
